Here, we finally cut through the firewall to install the steering column and the brake master cylinder.
With the body secured to the frame, we take a look through the trunk opening at the support bracket at the front of the car on which the steering column and the brake master cylinder will be mounted. That's the plate on the left.
In previous installments we test-fit the steering column through the appropriate frame brackets, but now that the body is in place, we can actually drill the various holes in the firewall so those components can be permanently mounted. We will not, however, go over all of the installation that we've already paid attention to in the earlier installments. As a reminder, we mounted the steering column in Part VII. We suggest you check back to see how that was accomplished.

| In this view from inside the cockpit, we see Cameron McCrary using the frame bracket as a template to drill the holes that will allow the brake master cylinder to be mounted. |
